Access Control

Sometimes you need to cut off a customer’s downloads and licenses, after a refund, for abuse, or because a manual comp should end. The plugin lets you revoke access on your WordPress site. This guide explains what that does and what it does not do.

Important: Your Site Vs The Payment Provider

Revoking access in Avenia Digital Products only affects your store:

  • Downloads stop working
  • License keys stop validating
  • Local subscription access ends

Revocation does not:

  • Refund money (do that in Stripe or PayPal)
  • Cancel recurring billing by itself

If charges should stop, cancel the subscription in Stripe or PayPal, or have the customer cancel from My Account. Then revoke access here so files and keys stop working.

Revoke One Order

  • Open the order under Orders.
  • Use Revoke Access.

That order’s downloads and license keys stop immediately. Related subscriptions on your site lose access as well.

Revoke Everything For A Customer

  • Open the customer under Customers.
  • Use Revoke All Access.

Every order for that person loses download and license access. Use this when you need to fully cut off a buyer.

Revoke One Subscription

Under Subscriptions, revoke access for a single subscription. Downloads and licenses tied to it stop. Billing at Stripe or PayPal continues until cancelled there.

What The Customer Experiences

  • Download links fail
  • My Account download buttons stop working
  • License API checks return invalid for software that validates against your store

When To Use Revocation

  • You refunded in Stripe or PayPal and need to remove files
  • Terms of service violation
  • Fraudulent purchase
  • A manual or comp order that should end
  • Testing how revocation behaves

For normal refunds, handle money at the gateway first, then revoke access in the plugin so your store matches what you refunded.
