Creating Products

Products are the digital items you sell. Each product has a title and description like a normal WordPress post, plus extra fields for the download file, price, and optional features such as license keys or a demo button.

You manage products under Avenia Digital Products → Products, or Add Product.

Add A New Product

  • Go to Avenia Digital Products → Add Product.
  • Enter a clear title. This is what customers see in the catalog and on the product page.
  • Write a description in the main editor. Explain what is included, who it is for, and anything buyers should know before they pay.
  • In the sidebar, set a Featured Image. Catalog cards and the product page use this image, so a clean preview helps a lot. A square image of at least 1200×1200 pixels is a good starting point.

Scroll down (or look in the sidebar, depending on your screen size) for the product-specific boxes: Product Details, Pricing, License Settings, Additional Info, Gallery, Related Products, and Catalog display.

Attach The Download File

In Product Details you will see Download Source with two choices.

Uploaded file

Click Select File and upload the file customers receive after purchase. The plugin stores it in a protected location. Buyers do not get a public media library link they could share freely.

External URL

Use this when the file already lives somewhere else (another host, a cloud bucket, or a delivery service). Customers still start from your secure download link; after the plugin checks that they are allowed to download, they are redirected to your URL. Prefer https:// links.

Each product has one download file (or one external URL). If you sell a bundle of many files, zip them into a single archive before uploading.

Customers re-download from My Account while their purchase or subscription remains valid. Emailed download links expire after the days set under Settings → Emails (default 2). There is no separate download count limit. See Downloads And Delivery.

Choose How The Product Is Sold

Still in Product Details, Product Type has two options for paid products:

One-time Purchase

The customer pays once. They can re-download from My Account for as long as the order grants access, and any license rules you enable still apply.

Subscription

The customer pays monthly or yearly. Optional trial period and setup fee are configured under Subscription options in Product Details. See Subscriptions and Product Pricing for more details.

If you check Free download (catalog), the product is given away without cart or checkout. Product Type and paid pricing are bypassed on the product page. See Free Downloads for more details.

Set A Price

Open the Pricing box. You will see rows with License Quantity and Price (or Monthly Price and Yearly Price for subscriptions).

For a simple product, one row is enough: license quantity 1 and your price (for example 29.00).

License quantity matters most when you sell software and charge by number of sites. Quantity 0 means unlimited sites when license keys are enabled. See Product Pricing for tiers and examples.

Below the pricing table, paid products also show a Direct checkout link generator once a Checkout Page is configured. That link adds the product to the cart and sends the buyer straight to checkout, useful pricing tables, emails, social posts etc. See Direct Checkout Links for more details.

License Keys (optional)

If this product needs activation (a plugin, theme, or app limited to a number of sites), open License Settings and check Enable License Keys.

When that is on, each purchase generates a unique key. The maximum number of activations comes from the license quantity in your pricing rows. One-time purchases get lifetime keys. Subscription licenses follow the billing period.

Store owners who only sell files usually leave this unchecked. See License Keys for more details. Developers connecting software to the API should also read Licensing Integration Guide.

Demo Button (optional)

In Product Details you can enable a demo button on the product page. Check Show a demo button on the product page, then set Button text (for example “View Demo”) and Link URL. The button appears above Add to Cart (or Download for free products) and opens in a new tab.

Publish Checklist

Before you click Publish, walk through this list:

  • Title and description are clear to a first-time visitor
  • A file is uploaded or an external URL is set
  • Price is set (unless it is a free download)
  • Featured image is set (recommended)
  • For subscriptions: monthly and/or yearly prices are filled in for each tier you offer
  • For licensed products: Enable License Keys is checked and quantities match your plans
  • You opened the product on the front of the site and the price and buttons look right

After publishing, run a simulated purchase once so you know the full path works.

Categories And Tags

Under Avenia Digital Products you will also find Product Categories and Product Tags. Use them the same way you use categories on blog posts. They help customers browse and let you filter the catalog with the Products block.

Assigning at least one category is optional but helpful once you have more than a handful of products.
