Settings

All store settings live under Avenia Digital Products → Settings. There are five tabs: General, Payment, Emails, Product licenses, and Appearance. This guide explains each option in the order you see it in the admin, using the same labels as the plugin.

General Tab

Plugin license

Your Avenia Digital Products license key for this site. Status shows Active or Inactive. Required to run the plugin on your site. The key may display as dots after save; clear the field to remove it, or paste a new key to replace it. Manage licenses at your account page at aveniadigitalproducts.com/my-account. This is separate from product license keys you sell to customers (Product licenses tab).

Currency

The currency you sell in. Options: USD, EUR, GBP, JPY, AUD, CAD. Pick the currency that matches your Stripe and PayPal accounts.

Currency Position

Left places the symbol before the amount ($10). Right places it after (10$).

Tax

Store-wide tax for cart and checkout. Choose one mode (labels match the dropdown):

No Tax (default)
No tax is calculated or mentioned at checkout.

Prices include tax
Your product prices already include tax. Customers see a “Prices include tax” note. No rate is entered here; bake tax into the prices you set.

Add tax at checkout
Tax is added on top of product prices at checkout. Enter the store-wide rate below.

Tax rate (%)
Shown only when Tax is set to Add tax at checkout. Enter a percentage from 0 to 100 (for example 20 for 20%). Added to the cart subtotal. This is a single store-wide rate, not by country. See cart-and-checkout.txt.

Require Email for Free Downloads

Checkbox label: Collect email before free downloads. When checked, visitors enter their email to receive a download link, get a customer record, and can re-download from My Account. When unchecked, free products download instantly without email. See Free Downloads for more details.

Account Creation

Auto-Create Account After Purchase (default) silently registers a WordPress account after a successful purchase and sends the account confirmation email. Guest Checkout is email-only with no login. See Customer Accounts for more details.

Remove Data on Uninstall

If enabled, uninstalling the plugin from the Plugins screen permanently deletes plugin tables and settings. Leave unchecked if you might reinstall and want to keep history.

Permalinks

URL slug for single products and the product archive. The default is digital-product (for example /digital-product/my-ebook/). Category and tag URLs use this base too. Save settings after changing. If links break, also click Save on Settings → Permalinks in WordPress.

Core Pages (section)

Products Page
Customizable catalog page (for example /products/). Add headings or other blocks above the Products block. Separate from the automatic product archive at /digital-product/ (or whatever product base you set).

Cart Page
Should contain the [aveniadp_cart] shortcode.

Checkout Page
Should contain the [aveniadp_checkout] shortcode.

Thank You Page
Optional. After a successful purchase, customers are redirected here with order details. If not set (“Use homepage with inline notice”), the homepage with an inline thank-you notice is used.

Skip cart
After adding a product, redirect customers straight to checkout (bypassing the cart page). Requires a valid Checkout Page. The cart still stores items in the background; the side cart drawer is hidden when this is on.

Account Page
Should contain the [aveniadp_account] shortcode.

Login Page
Should contain the [aveniadp_login] shortcode for the front-end login form.

Payment Tab

Status card

At the top: “What customers experience at checkout right now” — Simulated checkout, Test checkout (sandbox), or Live checkout, with a short description. When live credentials are in use, a warning may appear that you are accepting real payments.

Simulate payments

When checked, checkout completes on your site without contacting Stripe or PayPal. No payment provider is used. Turn this on while you build products and test emails and downloads. Provider settings below are saved but ignored until you uncheck this.

Real payments use

Shown when simulate payments is off. Choose one:

Test mode (sandbox)

Practice checkouts with test cards. No real charges.

Live mode

Real customer payments. Money is actually charged.

Only one credential set is used at a time. You can save both test and live keys and switch here when ready.

While simulate payments is on, a notice explains that provider settings are saved for later and ignored at checkout.

Stripe

Enable Stripe turns the gateway on when simulate is off.
Test credentials / Live credentials each have Secret key and Webhook signing secret (whsec_…). Badges show In use vs Saved. You do not enter a publishable key.
Webhook signing secret: optional for one-time products if customers return after checkout; recommended as a backup; required for subscriptions. Use the webhook URL on System Status. For full walkthrough see Set Up Stripe.

PayPal

Enable PayPal turns the gateway on when simulate is off.
Test credentials / Live credentials each have Client ID, Secret, and Webhook ID. Badges show In use vs Saved.
Webhook ID: optional for one-time products if customers return after checkout; required for subscriptions. Leave empty if you have not registered a webhook in PayPal. Use the webhook URL on System Status. For full walkthrough see Set Up Paypal.

Emails Tab

All emails share a layout with your logo and footer. You edit the message body; branding is applied automatically.

From Name / From Email

Sender identity. Prefer an address on your own domain for deliverability.

Email Logo

Select Logo / Remove Logo. Shown at the top of every email. If empty, your theme custom logo or site name is used.

Order Confirmation Email

Enable, subject, Email Content, Send test email.

Admin New Order Email

Enable, Recipient(s) (comma-separated; defaults to the site admin email), subject, Email Content, Send test email. Sent to store staff when a customer completes an order.

License Key Email

Enable, subject, Email Content, Send test email (when product licenses are available on this install).

Account Confirmation Email

Enable, subject, Email Content, Send test email.

Download Link Email

Enable, Email Link Expiration (days) — emailed links expire after this many days; account downloads are not affected — subject, Email Content, Send test email.

Subscription Renewal Email

Enable, subject, Email Content, Send test email. Sent when a recurring payment succeeds (not on initial signup or trial conversion).

Subscription Payment Failed Email

Enable, subject, Email Content, Send test email. Sent when a recurring payment fails and the subscription becomes past due. Points the customer to My Account to restart.

See Emails for delivery tips.

Product Licenses Tab

These settings apply to license keys you sell with your products, not your plugin license (see General → Plugin license).

License Key Format

Pattern for generated keys. Use X for characters and – for separators (example XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX).

API Rate Limit (per hour)

Maximum license API requests per hour per IP (default 100). Matters if you sell software that checks licenses remotely.

Generic API Error Messages

When enabled, the license REST API returns generic failure messages instead of detailed reasons, which reduces key enumeration leaks.

See License Keys for store-owner use, and Licensing Integration Guide for developers.

Appearance Tab

Customize storefront buttons, account tabs, and borders. Text colors adjust automatically for contrast.

Button Background

Primary action buttons on product, cart, checkout, and account pages.

Active Tab Background

Selected account tab, option pills, pagination highlight, and email CTA buttons.

Border Color

Borders on cards, tabs, form fields, and tables.

Cart & Checkout Background

Background for the cart and checkout summary panels.

See Appearance for more details.
